Coffee table X SALOTTO42
Columna was created for one of Rome’s most distinctive and exclusive interiors: the Salotto42 cocktail bar, overlooking Piazza di Pietra, facing the colonnade of the Temple of Hadrian.
A refined setting, shaped by marble, built through a sequence of custom-designed elements, where every presence contributes to defining the space’s sophisticated identity.

The Columna project takes part in the dialogue between the interior and the external context it overlooks, dense with the history and layers of the eternal city. The venue’s distinctive counter, placed at the back of the room, is supported by columns from the Roman era — the starting point of the project. The table establishes, in fact, a visual and conceptual continuity with the counter: while the coffee table is the first element to greet the eye on entering the venue, the counter represents its point of arrival, the final presence accompanying the experience of the space.

The base is made of white Carrara marble, formed by two two-dimensional slabs interlocked with one another — a three-dimensional solution that essentially recalls the theme of the column. The top, rich in design details that give it lightness and practicality, is instead in Nero Marquina, in continuity with the flooring. The contrast between base and top highlights the distinction between support and surface, between structure and function.

Conceived as a coffee table, Columna helps define an intimate, measured meeting space. An essential piece with character, capable of interpreting and enhancing the context, transforming historical references and noble materials into a contemporary language that reinforces the elegance and identity of one of the most iconic venues in the centre of Rome.
